Greetings! I would like to welcome you to the Gorean Banner Exchange. This site is hosted from the Jonrhus of Gor server as a FREE service to the Gorean Community on the web. I know how difficult it is to find a banner exchange that is tolerant enough of sexually oriented material to permit Gorean sites without intermingling the banners displayed with outright XXX site banners. I am sure that many of you have a similar opinion and will enjoy this banner exchange as one way to interconnect your Gorean site with others.

You will find that this banner exchange, though there are rules, is much more tolerant of the broad spectrum of Gorean sites. It is meant to be a tool to draw our community closer together at a minimal cost. Please, enjoy!

  Enter your details and become a member of the Gorean Banner Exchange. Your banner should be created before you sign up. It must be 468 pixels wide, 60 pixels high, and less than 15K Bytes in size. It may be a .gif, an animated .gif, or a .jpeg (Please do NOT use progressive encoding OR transparent gif's).

How To Join

1. Create a banner for your Gorean site...
• Banner Dimensions: 468 pixels wide by 60 pixels high
• Banner Size: must be less than 15K Bytes (15,360 Bytes)
• Filetype: .gif (GIF), animated .gif (GIF), or .jpg (JPEG)
• Other Requirements: see Exchange Rules
• Notes:
• Please do NOT use "hot" colors with high speed animation to create effects that hurt the eyes.
• Please do NOT make your GIF transparent as color matching cannot be guaranteed on display pages.
• Please do NOT use progressive encoding in either a GIF or a JPEG. These files should download in under 10 seconds over any type of connection anyway.

2. Store your new banner somewhere on your website and write down the URL so you can use it during the sign up process. Be sure to write down the full URL (i.e. http://www.yoursite.com/anydirectory/filename.ext).



3. Write down the URL where you would like visitors to your site to enter when they click on your banner. Again, this must be a full URL (i.e. http://www.yoursite.com/).



4. Fill out the GBE Registration Form in full and submit it.


At this time, you will be given the link code to use on your pages. It is fairly straight forward, but you must remember to modify the "XX" attributes to the page numbers where you have placed the code.

The code must not be modified in any other way or it will not work properly when placed on the pages.


5. Place the code you are given on your web pages where it will appear at the top of the screen when the page loads. You may use the code on up to 25 pages on your website.


Notes:
• Unlike other banner exchanges, the Gorean Banner Exchange does NOT require that the banner be the first one at the top of the page. However, it must be displayed prominently in the top half of an unscrolled browser window. This gives you the lattitude to place your own title banner above it without any hassle.
• You may choose to place the banner inside of a frame at the top of your page. If you do, please add target="_top" or target="_blank" to the anchor tag in your link code to avoid any copyright issues related to displaying other websites in a frame on your own website.


6. All that is left to do is wait for your account to be activated by the webmaster. Please be patient with him. He can get awfully busy at times and it may take a few days for him to get a "Round-Tuit".

How It Works

The Gorean Banner Exchange works just like most conventional banner exchanges or link exchanges. You display banners from other websites on your pages, and in return you earn exposures which will display your banner on other websites that are members of the Gorean Banner Exchange. This means that you get free traffic from other websites.

The current ratio for exposures is 2:1. That means that for every two banners displayed, you earn 1 exposure. This is a common ratio among banner exchanges and seemed like a good place to start. It will most likely change in your favor once the database fills with members. The goal is to attain a ratio as close to 1:1 as possible. Unfortunately, the ratio must be based on a click thru ratio which is yet to be established.

What makes this banner exchange different is the concentration of Gorean banners that will make up the core of the database. This makes the perfect addition to any Gorean site. Not only do you connect your site with the Gorean community, but you get hits to your site from the rest of the community.

Just to make sure that everyone gets off to a good start, we give your banner 100 FREE exposures when you sign up. Considering that the service is also hosted for FREE, what have you got to lose?

Exchange Rules

Yes, we do have to have rules. However, you will hopefully find that they are tolerant enough to include the vast majority of Gorean sites. So, without further ado, here are the rules.

1. Banner Requirements
1. The physical size of the banner must be 468 pixels wide by 60 pixels high.
2. The banner must be less than or equal to 15K Bytes (i.e. 15360 Bytes) to facilitate quick download on slower connections.
3. The banner may be a GIF, an animated GIF, or a JPEG. However, it may NOT be progressively encoded and it may NOT be transparent. This is to insure that it downloads and displays properly.
4. The banner may NOT use high contrast coloring in effects with high speed animation to attract the attention of the eyes.
5. The banner may be animated as long as each frame is denotable and understandable to the eyes.
6. The banner must be designed with the context of your site in mind. "Trick" navigation banners that lure the user into thinking they are part of the current site will not be permitted.
7. The banner must be designed with a discerning eye when it comes to sexual content and proper use of language. Remember, it will be displayed on free sites where young people and the public may visit from time to time. If you have seen it on American television, it is probably acceptable.


2. Web Site Requirements
1. In order to keep the exposure earnings fair to everyone, you may only display one banner from the Gorean Banner Exchange on each page of your website for a maximum of 25 pages.
2. The banner must be displayed in a prominent position in the top half of an unscrolled browser window. This will be checked on Internet Explorer 5.0 using an 800x600 VGA display.
3. Unlike other exchanges, you may place the banner on pages with other banner exchanges or sponsor links as long as the other rules are followed.
4. We do have to limit the content of websites to those legal in the United States because of the location of the server. That means ABSOLUTELY NO SITES RELATED TO STOLEN SOFTWARE (WAREZ), STOLEN PASSWORDS, BEASTIALITY (SEX WITH ANIMALS), CHILD PORNOGRAPHY (UNDER 18), OR PROSTITUTION (SEX FOR MONEY) to name the most common.
5. Your site must contain an acceptable amount of content that can be construed as Gorean whether it be compilations from the novels, personal experiences, poetry, philosophy, etc.
6. Your site MAY exist on free hosted servers such as GeoCities if, and only if, there is no nudity or pornography related material contained therein. They (not we) will eventually delete such sites leaving bad links from Gorean Banner Exchange members.
7. Here is an incomplete list of those who are WELCOME:
   Gorean masters and slaves, Gorean merchants, Gorean IRC channels, Gorean messsage boards, anyone or anything Gorean.


3. Privacy Statement
Any and all information submitted to this website for the purposes of maintaining the Gorean Banner Exchange shall be kept in the most strict confidence. Email addresses will not be sold, distributed, or used in any manner that can be construed as SPAM. Website statistics shall be kept private and only made accessible to each respective member and the webmaster.
